I am currently on holiday, so after my recent visit to this mags hq I thought I'd brush up a little and visit my dealer to arrange to listen to a few new things next week which will enable me to talk about newer stuff rather than just products which are a year or two old, as is the case now.

On entrance I noticed the new shop layout, featuring a PMC section with Bryston Pre and Power amplification. The speakers connected were the above mentioned PB1i's. This is just a brief impression and not from one of the dem rooms. Sitting down on I was a little dissappointed. Very clear but lacking in body and not what I'd call very musical. We briefly turned the volume up and that is probably where this system is aimed at with grip and resolution lesser amplifiers or speakers simply can't muster. Again though, not what I'd probably could listen to for to long but impressive in a different way nevertheless.

Just a short post because i have the time to ...

I can only think that you're not too keen on the speakers. We've used the Bryston amplification with KEF Reference with some stunning results. Very neutral (to my ears, although not to the point of leanness), endless power, masses of control, and sounding the same whatever volume they're used, unlike a lot of amplification.
