BR5s or Mordaunt Short 914i

Hi all,

I'm just about to buy one of the above and wondered if anyone had ever auditioned both at the same time and had an opinion on which is better. Basically it looks like I can pick up the BR5's for just under £400, and the 914i's for £180 (reduced from £300). While I'm sure the BR5's are better, are they worth over twice the money?

No, but I'd also add - if you have the space for them - the Q Acoustics 1050i floorstander. Scale and dynamism are not to be found wanting in those boxes! With the new 2050 just out, the award winning 1050i is right down in price (£200 in some places).

I will surely buy the more refined BR5.

You can now get RS6s for around £400 - and they are a huge leap up from either of those...

Mordaunt-Shorts for my money. Much more even across the frequency range than the MAs and cleaner sounding.

I'd actually look at the Aviano 2 or Mezzo 2 standmounts within that price range though.
