I am just about to buy a budget hifi system of the marantz cd6002 and pm6002 amp. I would like decent floorstanders with these. I am looking at and have heard the iq5se and br5 and am impressed. However, the speakers will be around 4 feet apart very close to a back and side wall. The kefs are known to be easy on partnering and unfussy about position. The br's are rear ported. The chance of a home demo is unlikely. Am i wasting my time with the br5's? I listen to classical rock and pop.

Personally, if it were me, i'd look at some of the very good examples of the Acoustic Energy AE 109 speakers on Ebay currently

These are great speakers and really suit being close-ish to walls even with a rear firing port.

There are also some Acoustic Energy Neo floor standers on Ebay for £205 plus £16 postage. Just search Ebay for 'Acoustic Energy'.

These would suit your taste
