Bose 901 - need help finding equalizer

Hey everyone!
New to the forum here. I started listening to vinyl about 4 years ago (I’m in my early 20’s), and a couple of weeks ago I found these amazing (looking) Bose 901 speakers at a thrift store for a bargain. Not knowing better I bought them as a pair, without an equalizer. I had no idea one was needed. Now I’m sitting here with 2 pieces of furniture playing flat tunes with worse sound than my iPhone. Have been looking for an equalizer for them, but seem very hard to find, without buying another pair of speakers.

Could any of you assist me in finding a replacement that works just as good, or do you have one at home sitting at home? Does it have to be the original equalizer, or are there alternatives? Thank you!

Ps. I live in Denmark

What do You mean by equaliser,no such thing
These need an amplifier.
what is the rest of your set-up?
how are you intending to play music through these speakers?
Hi! They require an active equalizer, I have an amplifier, but the output is flat with no base at all without the equalizer:/

Does it have to be the original equalizer?
No it doesn't.
Though, depending on your amplifier, it could be something similar (i.e. an analogue equaliser).

But you'd be better off using the type of DSP (Digital Signal Processing) included as a feature in many streamers.

Whereas EQ is desirable for some people, it's essential for you (and it's not just a case of boosting bass frequencies, where a subwoofer alone might have done the job).

Your options depend on your intended music source(s) and type of amp.

Two possibilities here: the historic 'graphic equaliser' with its sliders for different frequency bands (but note these would normally sit between pre and power stages) or as @Gray says the current DSP approach. I searched for 'phono pre-amp with DSP' and amazingly found a hit https://positive-feedback.com/revie...audio-puffin-phono-stage-etc-etc-etc-etc-etc/

Though never used/ heard/ seen it so your own research needed.

That research should start with finding out as much as you can about the Bose product, what frequencies it boosts/depresses, so you can at least on paper check that whatever it is matches up.

Example of the graphic equaliser of yore: https://ebay.us/m/280YxZ. Note that it has 'line in' and 'line out' meaning that it sits between pre amp and power amp. Maybe 'graphic equaliser with phono stage' might be a thing.

Note that none of this might do the job - it depends how much you need to boost what frequencies. If an equaliser has +/- 3db at different ranges but you need +6db at 250hz (I'm making this up, obviously) then that but of kit doesn't cut it.

Good luck!
