Bookshelf speakers on stands question.

I have just bought some kef iQ1's and a set of atacama nexus 6 speaker stands and was just wondering if it is alright to put a couple of screws though the bracket and into the speaker, as i have a couple of little children who might knock them off.

I wouldn't - seems a shame to spend money on speakers and then drill holes in them. A good helping of Blu-tack under each corner will keep them on the stands solidly for anything but the strongest of pushes (from a small child at any rate) and discipline should hopefully prevent those. Of course, maybe keeping them in a no-go area of the house for children is the only way to keep them 100% safe...

you can yes, but i wouldn't advise it. do you really want to drive screws into your new speakers.seriously use blu-tac, l know doesn't sound like a very secure solution but honestly it works

Thanks for tour quick reply professorhat,i will try some blu-tack and try to keep the children away from them, just didn't want to come home from work to find one on the floor.

Fingers pressed through the speaker cones might be a bigger danger!

Yes little fingers can cause all manner of trouble. Pushing centre plugs and tweeters in, bending styluses and pushing small items into ports and putting drinks mats into cd/dvd drawers, and putting pet rodents onto turntables.Bless the little tykes.

On the blu tac point it works. I've had flexible shelving systems over 6 feet high secured entirely by gravity, mass and blutac. Who needs 'No More Nails'?

Blutac is cool. That or sellotape can pull cones back into place when those little fingers have been doing their mischievous work too.
