Hi

I am looking for a pair of small inexpensive bookshelf speakers (budget around £200 - 250) for a second system (in a solid, brick built garage conversion which is not particularly well accoustically insulated - so sound is not going to be turned up high in deference to the neighbours.

I have an amplifier - my old Arcam Delta 290 which died (of the usual input selector switch failure) and was replaced in my main system, but was then resurrected when I found someone able and willing not only to repair but recondition it. (I wish I'd realised this was possible before replacing it).

I intend to use flac files stored on a PC hard drive as the main music source, and I have an Arcam rPAC DAC purchased for the job.

The room is approximately 6m x 3m and has laminate flooring (over a concrete base). The speakers will have to sit on very solid, built in bookshelves.

A problem is that I can't find anywhere hereabouts to audition some of the speakers recommended - e.g. Dali Zensors. I live in Lancashire.

What do people suggest? I'd much prefer to listen before I buy.

To give you an idea of the sound I've got used to over the years, main system comprises: LP12 / LV. X / Ortofon 520; Meridian 506; Rega Fono mini A2D / Cyrus Pre Xvs / Arcam 290P; Rega ELA II and Rogers LS. 2a/2 speakers

Q Acoustics 2020i are a fabulous pair of speakers, arguably better than the Dalis, and truly fantastic value for money.
