Blu-Tak or spikes?

I use blue-tak,you only need 4 tiny bits,1 for each corner.I find it decouples the speaker from the stand just enough to tighten up the sound quite considerably and also stop accidental knocks.I must stess tho you only need to use small dobs as it sticks firmly.

Blu-Tack should be fine I reckon - I assume the stands themselves are on spikes on the floor? Also, are those stands fillable? If they are and you haven't tried, could be worth a go with either kiln dried sand or atabites or the like. Improved the performance of my 685s by filling my Nexus 6 stands to about 3/4s full (after some experimentation).

I use the hard plastic pads I got with my speakers - stuck them on each of the four corners of the stand, and after a few hours the weight of the speakers makes them stick to the bottom too!

JOB DONE.

Looks nicer than blue-tack. So I would vote you get some small adhesive plastic pads/feet

Like these 😉

Yeah the stands are on spikes. Instead of sand I've filled them with dried river stones (about 2cm across on average) inside plastic bags, for the added weight.

Does anyone have an opinion on spikes, eg aren't they supposed to improve imaging? Are the points sharp enough to scratch into the veneer?

Thanks,

Not saying there is anything wrong with using the pads, but you shouldn't be able to see the Blu-Tack - if you can, you're using too much.

That would be my main worry - remember the spikes on the floor are isolating the whole structure from vibrations, so a firm connection to the stand with Blu-tack should work well. It certainly seems to for me!

I had mine on spikes for a while. The spikes won't damage the veneer though I found the speakers to be very susceptible to being knocked off the stand which would of course would cause damage to the veneer. They are also more troublesome to level and as I didn't hear any difference in the sound I switched back to trusty Blu-tack.

I use 4 Bright Star Isonode anti vibration feet (the small ones) for my B&W 602.3s, very satisfied with the result.
