I'm eagerly awaiting delivery of the Denon 2500BT my first foray into the world of Hi-def was via SkyHD and then HD-DVD.

Being able to buy HD-DVD's from anywhere has proved most useful but now it seems blu-ray has taken a backwards step and is coded for different regions!!!!!

My questions are these: Is the Denon 2500BT multi region? If not what region discs do i need to purchase? Can the Denon be made multi region?

I apologise if these questions have all been answered before, I've have literally just looked on e-bay to buy some discs to be faced with the whole "regioned" discs cunundrum??????????

Many thanks

Cameron.

I can't confirm weather the player is multi-region; however I think you will find the following site (http://bluray.liesinc.net/) useful as it details blu-ray disks along with weather or not they are region free.

I often find purchsing blu-ray movies from abroad works out cheaper and I always refrer to that site to ensure it will play on my ps3!

The Denon will not be multi-region out of the box, though some retailers may well provide multi-region versions if a crack / modded / chipped version can be made - these would normally take a little while after a product is released for this to be offered though. These versions also normally invalidate the manufacturers warranty so if you do find one, ensure the dealer is offering to provide their own warranty to cover this (and I'd suggest you read this carefully to ensure you're covered for everything you'd expect to be).
The UK is in region B along with most of Europe, Australia and a few other countries, whilst the US and Japan are in region A (see here). However, as shown in the post above, a number of studios are producing Blu-Ray discs which are region free i.e. can be played on any region Blu-Ray player. As well as the site above, MovieTyme also have a list of region free discs that they have tested themselves to ensure they will work on UK region Blu-Ray players.
