Blu-Ray profiles?

Is there an idiots guide to what Blu-Ray profiles are? The news item on the latest Pioneer players refers to various profiles including 1.2 and 2.0, with the possibility of upgrades, but none of which means anything to me. Cab anyone point me to a summary explaining the differences? Thanks.

The key difference between 1.1 and 2.0 is support for Blu-ray discs that have BD Live functionality - online extras etc.

Many thanks - as someone who rarely even watches the "bonus extras" on a DVD, it didn't leave me thinking I should be hanging on specifically for profile 2 players! Regards.
