blu ray player for stored music only?

usually the menu system on dvd/blu ray players isn't great, so trawling through long lists of things may become a chor, rather than a pleasure.

Not in my experience, no (Cambridge 751) - you have to negotiate file folder structures and it's a bit (see also: very) clunky. Better having a NAS or PC running with Twonky server on it, and a DLNA-capable player.

I'm not sure what you mean by a guide to twonky. Its just a media server that presents files to a player. You install it and point it at your media files.

Using your android phone/tablet with an appropriate DLNA app to control your music might be more agreeable.

Select the twonky server as the source and the BDP player as the target device.
