Blu-Ray & HD Ready (1080i) TVs. Worth it, or pointless?

I would quite like to jump onto the Blu-Ray bandwagon, and get the sound that my system is capable of dishing out, but is it worth it?

Obviously my TV is 'only' HD ready, so will I notice any benefits over upscaled DVD?

Opinions welcome (and no, I'm not gonna buy a new TV just yet)

Definately worth it in my opinion. I recently bought a Denon 1940 upscaling DVD player, and although I am very happy indeed with the picture it produces the Blu Ray movies I watch through the PS3 are better, simple as that. I might be missing out on some of the detail of the image but it's still an amazing picture on a decent HD Ready TV. As always though, it's a case of see if you can set up a demo and compare for yourself.

In My Opinion:

For sure Blu-Ray is better then an upscaled DVD picture, but it is certainly not near the leap from VHS to DVD. For me personally it comes down to cost. At the moment Blu-Ray discs are still very expensive compared to their DVD counterpart. If the picture from DVD is still acceptable to you (and I still think it is excellent) then why not take advantage of tumbling DVD prices??

There are many variables, but the more BD and HD-DVD i watch, the more DVD is beginning to look like VHS. This will become even more apparent as budget DVD's quality starts dropping.
