I re-read with interest Hi-Fi Choices recent 'blind' listening test of speakers between £1300 - just over 2 grand. It wasn't the results themselves that caught my eye this time around but the fact they adjusted volume to get even levels with speakers of differing sensitivities.
I guess this practice is unavoidable but frequency response of amplifiers can vary with volume. I wonder if that could give certain products an unfair advantage.
