I've just replaced my aging REL Q150E (£500 new) with a BK XLS300/PR (£385) sub and I'm finding it an excellent replacement. So much so that I've started using it to underpin my Proac Studio 140's bass in stereo, something that I would have never wanted to do previoulsy, the sub just used for movie duites and the rears. The Proac's go low, rated at 25hz, but what I thought was excellent bass now sounds muddy by comparison. I would have always used the Pure Direct setting (bypassing the sub) on my Z7 for stereo music, it goes against the grain, but I'm getting excellent results with music by just bypassing the Z7's equalizer and letting the Z7 send everything below 60hz to the sub. Not a bad upgrade for £385 compared to the £500 the REL cost me.
My other half has caught on quick though, she says there's no reason why I can't get smaller front speakers now! I can't argue that one now, I feel an upgrade to Proac D15's coming on!
