Bi-Wiring Connection

Never having done this before, in order to bi-wire my Kef Q100s, do I connect each set of wires from the speakers to a common amp channel (speakers A, for example) or to separate channels (speakers A & B) & run both channels simultaneously?

I wouldnt bother anyway as it wont make a difference at all to the sound

But if you are intent then it depends on how the amp is designed. Some amps have double binding posts to bi wire. Other have seperate speaker posts so you can switch different speakers say in another room for example.

What amp have you got. Maybe we can look online at the manual

I've seen such mixed opinions on the matter I figured I'd give it a listen myself if it isn't too much of a problem setting up with the equipment I have, which is a standard posted 2 channel Marantz PM-60005.

Switch it all off, then remove the jumper bars on your speaker terminals at the rear of your speakers.

Then connect the woofers/low to either speakers A or speakers B on the amp. Making sure L+/L- & R+/R- are going to the relevant connections between amp and speaker.

Then connect the tweeters/high to the set of speaker terminals you haven't used on the amp, again making sure L/R, +/- etc are connected to the corresponding terminals between speaker and amp.

Switch it on and select speakers A & B on the amp.

Then listen to some music and see what you think, hope that helps.

Page 17 of the instructions shows a clear diagram, a Google search will bring it up.

Yeah it's very straight forward once you know how

If you already have the cable for this I'd say by all means try it out for yourself. If you need to spend money on more cable and connectors though, my advice would be to save your money.

It's entirely up to you of course, do report back your findings if you try it
