Hi I have recently acquired a new Audiolab 8000P power amplifier to bi amp with my 8000A integrated amp and would be grateful for some advice on how to correctly do this please? I believe that it would be best to use the power amp for the LF and the intergrated for the HF and i understand how to connect the speakers etc... Its how i connect the 8000A to the 8000P that i'm unsure of, is it just a case of connecting the L+R pre-outs from the 8000A to the L+R inputs of the 8000P? Also i've read somewhere that i may need to modify the 8000A to seperate the pre & power sections,is this correct? Thanks

Yup, that's right.

Yes.

No, you'd only need to do that if you were inserting some kind of processor between the preamp and power amp sections. In this set-up, everything stays the same and the 8000A's internal power amp and the 8000P are fed from the 8000A's preamp section in parallel.

Yes Andrew is right on the nose as usual, what I'd say though is that 8000p can get damn hot if you're banging out rockin tunes, make sure it's got lots of air, I wouldn't advise just plopping it on top of the A.

No, absolutely separate shelves.

Not quite what I'd planned for post number 5000, but ho hum...

Thanks for the advice Mr_Poletski, the P will be on a dedicated hifi rack on its own shelf , so shouldn't be a problem.
