The options for TVs that are ready to unlock all features of the PS5 are limited. Sony BRAVIA KD43XH8505BU comes closest, but is over your budget. It's been certified "perfect for PlayStation" by Sony.

Within your budget, look at Sony BRAVIA KD43XH8196BU and the Panasonic.

Thank you for your response. What would I be losing from the “perfect model” to the alternative you have suggested? Also, is the following model comparable KD43XH9196BU?

The 9196 is a Currys exclusive and similar in specs to the 8505. The main difference is 120Hz and HDMI 2.1. The 8505 can do 120 Hz, the Panasonic one and the cheaper Sony does 50 Hz. Any TV will work, but 120Hz compatibility will give less judders.

It's beautiful, but HDMI 2.0. Sony 8505 is HDMI 2.1 and a bit cheaper.

There's a deal on the Samsung at the moment which makes it around £560 which is why I was considering it. The Sony 8505 is out of my budget I'm afraid, but also this review did concern me: https://www.whathifi.com/reviews/sony-kd-43xf8505

Compared to the Panasonic which is cheaper and has generally excellent reviews. Still doing further research before I actually bite the bullet and buy something!

Any other sets you would recommened that I could explore?

The XF8505 is 2 years old and a different model. 2020 models have been praised for its powerful processor, while the old processor was juddery.

Eventually, a compromise has to be made somewhere. Lack of 120Hz is likely to make some PS5 games juddery.

The problem is that PS5 has arrived before most TVs are ready for it, and you have to pay for higher ranges to get the ideal specs which mostly don't have smaller sizes.

Only a demo will help you decide the best picture between the 3 models. In your price range and size, these are the only models to consider.

Thank you. I realise at the 43" size limit options are scarce.

Correct. 55 inches is the most popular size but obviously that's not suitable for your needs.

@bigboss thank you very much for your help and advice.

Just a quick update. I've been looking for a TV for a long time, and as time went on I was getting more and more confused rather than getting any clarity. Just now I saw the Sony
KD43XH9196BU on the Sony Refrubished website for £549. It's £679 everywhere else so I thought it was a good price and went for it. It also comes with a 5 year warranty. Do you think it's a good deal?

Also, there is some confusion. As far as I have read this model is the same as the

KD43XH8505BU. The only difference being the 9196 is a Curry's exclusive (as you previously mentioned). I have checked the specs of both models side by side on Sony's website and found only two differences between the two sets (screenshots attached).

So can I assume the model I have purchased also has HDMI 2.1 and 120Hz panel?

You got a good deal there!

It has one HDMI 2.1 port.

This is what I found about the TV regarding refresh rate:

Sony KD-43XH9196 was introduced in 2020. It has a LCD screen with 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) resolution and 100 Hz/120 Hz refresh rate. The TV is HDR compatible. It supports HDR10, Dolby Vision and HLG.

I haven't been able to confirm the 120Hz apart from this, but it definitely does 100Hz which is better than 50Hz for 120Hz games.

Sony labels this TV as "perfect for PlayStation".

If you were flexible with size, the 49-inch LG 49NANO866NA does 120Hz and has HDMI 2.1 ports. This is currently £699, but was for £579 during Black Friday.

Yes I would have loved to have gone for a bigger set. But at 43" I think this TV is just about the best spec I could have got.
