A mate of mine needs to get a new pair of small speakers after a house move, they will have to go on shelves due to space. He will be selling big Celestions.

I can't remember exactly what he has but I think it's a Marantz CDP and Technics amp, about 15 years old.

He mentioned Q Acoustics 2010, which indicates he's not looking to spend too much more than £150.

Any recommendations?

They're gonna be useless on shelves...

2010s are good, and being on shelves might bolster the bass a bit. 2020s probably too deep. Diamond 10.1s might be just about in budget, and are fabulous on the end of the right equipment. 9.1s are front potted and therefore very shelf friendly, and cam ne had for peanuts now.

I would suggest he puts Monitor Audio BR1's on his list to check great speakers can be had for £135 at the moment.
