best computer speakers for music

hi quick question im looking at getting a speaker system for my macbook mainly for music any ideas?

How much are you looking to spend?

Do you need to connect to other sources?

Are these to be small desktop speakers or used in a sitting room?

Do you have space for a seperate amp and speakers or are you looking for compact active speakers with amp built in?

its for a reasonable size room, i have a separate hif,i so nothing to meager. Dont have to be a compact as i am looking for a great sound price range £500 max thanks

The Acoustic Energy Aego M seem to be the speakers everyone recommends for a PC set up - never heard a set personally but What Hifi gave the 5/5 as well and they're very good value
