Just wondering peoples favourite blu ray discs to put their system through its paces? For me its The hurt locker, and dark knight. Anyone else suggest any good ones?

Jamesf348,

I watched How To Train Your Dragon this evening and the Tru-HD soundtrack is fabulous but what really did it for me was the workout my subs got - best one yet for me.

Opening scenes of Star Trek are an awesome system test for LFE, top end and surround effects steering all in one go, so +1 for that.

Dark Knight is fairly good for a sound test, but is my preferred test disc for image quality.

Have to say I was a little dissappointed with the Saving Private Ryan soundtrack on blu-ray. It used to be 'the' reference soundtrack on DVD, but doesn't seem to have transferred over very well.

I agree with the Hurt Locker........desert sniper scene is just awesome.

UP sounds great within a DSX audyssey set-up.

The opening scene to Phantom of the Opera is truely massive, on the right system.

But my all time fav.......is the gunfight scene in Open range. So many different sounding guns, have played this through a system using 4x MK MX350 subwoofers.............absolutely teriffic.

I know it's a boxed set, but THE PACIFIC has an amazing soundtrack. The pic's not shoddy either.

for me :-

The Hulk (the new one)

Transformers 2

The Harry potters (when playing quiditch) good surround steering

Drag me to hell, average film but some good effects, the fly buzzing around and the creaking floorboards

It is, isn't it - would you agree that it gives the sub a good workout?

I'll give this dragon training flick a whirl! I have to say also the PCM soundtrack on Crimson Tide is absolutely sublime, as is the picture transfer tbh. The first 10 minutes of Cars is very good, once sheryl Crow stops singing. The steering of the cars going around the oval is superb.

Michael Jackson's This Is It is far and above the best Blu-ray soundtrack I have heard. It is just awesome in every way. And I have heard most of the titles previously mentioned in this thread - nothing has ousted this soundtrack from its throne.

I agree with Liam19, This is it is really good with loads of dynamics, then the battle scene at the end of avatar and star trek as said earlier, Hellboy 1 PCM is amazing also!!
