someone told me a guide line is half the price of your package and look at them. but for £500 i looked at sony and found the denon alot better. And by all the reviews the new 1910 denon is a cracker, so im not saying get it but have a look and listen in your local hifi shop

We tend to supply the Onkyo 607 with the Q-Acoustics but as you have £500 you may want to consider the Harman Kardon AVR260 that is bang on budget. It delivers in music as well as surround. If you cant stretch it a bit then the Marantz SR5004 is the one to go for IMO.

I'm not familiar with the speakers, but as a very satisfied Onkyo 607 owner, you should seriously consider this receiver.
It's got more inputs than . . . . a giant thingy that has got lots of inputs all over it.
There were some overheating problems in early incarnations but the current ones are just fine.

Very programmable, very tweakable, very nice indeed.

ear:Isn't the HK to safe sounding and a bit dull?

Not really. The best way to describe it is as a slightly refind Onkyo. Plenty of drive and detail without too much forceful treble. With the larger speakers it really does work.

We have been putting the HK up against the competing Onkyo and Pioneer models for months and they hold their own at every level.

I have the Q Acoustics 2020 5.1 system. (accidentally as the store I got them from could not supply the 2010's and offered the upgrade free.) Been running them for about a month with a Denon AVR-2310 which many audio-holics would probably think massive overkill for a Speaker set up like this. - But I am a complete noob and did not know this at the time.

This set up sounds pretty cool to me but as mentioned above, I am a kind of audio beginner so have no other point of reference really.
