Just to add that the digital output will pass through by default data that it cannot decode. For example I watch TV on my computer and output the sound in WASAPI mode. The DacMagic cannot process the AC3 or MPEG audio but will happily send it on to my AV amp. The Caiman cannot do this.

Yup, that other mag did another comparative test between the V-DAC, B7510, DM, Benchmark DAC1, Fubar, and 1 or 2 others, and were generally impressed by all of them.

However they also noted the DM's filters were just superfluous pants and should have done without (still got 4 globes).

They were very impressed with the V-DAC (came second after the DAC1 !!).

But they also noted the B7510 probably beat the lot for transparency!

And that's why I'm inclined to think the Caiman could be something very special indeed.

Just like to say that Tirna Electronics also upgrade the tc-7510,which i had done at the weekend, with wolfson dac chip and THS4032 Dual Op-Amps! My dac now sounds incredible! Brilliant service from Tirna, went round to there place on sunday, had a cup of tea and nice chat! Within the hour the upgrade was done. Can`t recommend this company enough.Anyone who owns a 7510 should have this upgrade done as an absolute must!

Yep, had my TC7520 done by them, great service and support. Basically its a caiman without the lettering in the corner or the improved headphone section, I have a separate headphone amp so didn't need this. Worthwhile improvement to an already super product.
