Benefits of servicing home theater amplifier?

Would servicing an apparently fully functional Marantz SR8500 amplifier be likely to change the sound?

I like the sound from a newer-but-lesser Marantz NR1501 amplifier more, wondering if this could help.

Thanks in advance for any guidance!

I very much doubt you would hear any appreciable difference after a service. Does it need one? What do you mean by "apparently" fully functioning ?

Thank you.

I'm not aware of it needing service, but since it's older and I don't know if its ever been serviced, just starting there in diagnosing.

What I meant by 'apparently fully functioning' is that the amp seems to be working well, no obvious problems. Only thing that's 'odd' is that it sounds notably more lackluster/dull compared to the Marantz NR1501 it replaced.

The 1501 is newer, but not that new, retailed for something like $600-800, and has about 50wpc.

The 8500 is perhaps 10 years older than the 1501, though near top of the line retailed for something like $2,500, has 125wpc, a torroidal transformer, and a number of other reasons I'd have assumed the sound from the 8500 would be better than the 1501. But alas, strongly considered 'downgrading' since I preferred that 1501 sound.

That said, I'd love to have best of both worlds, so wondering if there could be something off with the 8500 before I consider selling it.
