Hi dave75 - excuse my lack of knowledge here (not sure what a generic/FTA receiver means) but will this work on Sky HD boxes if manually tuned ?

No. You can't manually tune DVB-S2 on SkyHD boxes.

Ok thanks - is their any news if these extra channels will be available to us Sky customers and more specifically when ? Apologies if you have covered this in the other threads.

BBC Three HD is officially supposed to launch 10th Dec, the rest 'early 2014'

Though as they are all now testing, I suspect they'll all launch around the same time, and if we are too see the rest launch early/before Xmas they'll have to do it soon as Sky implement an 'EPG freeze' for 3 - 4 weeks from mid December
