Bare wire or spades / bananas

Hi all Just a quick question: Is there any advantage (apart from convenience) for using either spades or banana plugs over bare wire for speaker connections?

I would have thought that bare wire would be the most “direct” connection given that the binding posts of the equipment are of good quality.

imo no difference in sound but big difference in convenience so i always use bananas
