am currently using a B&W ASW600 subwwoofer that I got about 5 years ago. Will it be worthwhile upgrading to the ASW610 or will the ASW610 XP be a better option?

What's the rest of your system? I have the 610 after listening to that and the 608 - I didn't listen to the XP version because I couldn't justify the extra spend to myself and I knew if I heard them all I'd probably want the XP!

likewise never looked at the XP, to big a price hike but couldn't be happier with my 610 paired with M1's. Works well with both movies and music.

I am using a pair of 685s as fronts, HTM62 centre and a pair of 686s as rear speakers with a ASW600 subwoofer.

I have the 610xp paired with 5 M1's

The XP is awesome - worth the extra money if you can afford it!!

Hi there, Am looking at getting a home theatre set.

B&W singapore is offering the following:

685 front pair + 3 M1 + ASW608 with a Yamaha 467.

Question

1) Will moxing 685 here effect the "award winning system"?

2) Will the M1 centre be overwhelmed by the 685?

3) Am thinking of upping to ASW610 and Yamaha 567

4) Alternatives are the KEF 3005??

Would appreciate some advice on this.

THANK YOU

James

I currently have the XP, i was lucky enough for B&W not to have any stock of the 610 when i bought my 684 speaker package and they gave me the XP instead of keeping me waiting.

I have it set on normal settings and it really does shake my living room - AWESOME

jamesling:1) Will moxing 685 here effect the "award winning system"

I use the 685s with the HTM62 centre and M1 rears and the ASW610 - this works very well in my opinion.

jamesling:2) Will the M1 centre be overwhelmed by the 685?

I think you'll lose the overall cohesion / tonal balance necessary between the front three using an M1. I haven't listened to it (and if you can, that would be the best way to determine), but I'd very much recommend using the HTM62 in the centre with that setup.

jamesling:3) Am thinking of upping to ASW610 and Yamaha 567

I thought the upgrade from the ASW610 to the ASW608 was worth it personally when I auditioned the two. I haven't heard the Yamaha amp to comment I'm afraid.

jamesling:4) Alternatives are the KEF 3005??

I did listen to the 3005s as well before I purchased my system - they're good but the B&W system is significatly better.

Hi James. I live in Singapore too. AM looking at the 685 fronts, HTM 62 centre, M1 rears, the 610 sub with the Yamaha V667 or Onkyo SR608 receiver. Planning to get it from eighteen 77 at Delphi. Want to try for a group discount?

I would use matching centre to the front speakers. My experience for home cinema is that the centre carries most of the sound especially dialogue so you spend most money on it!
