In the WHFSV review of the B&W 684 speakers the 'Against' comment was "Need to be cranked up for maximum enjoyment".

Unfortunately living in a London terraced house means I can't run them cranked up for very long, so my question is, do the B&W 684 still sing when not played at unneighbourly levels, or do they absolutely have to be cranked up before they come on song ?

Thanks for this. I was hoping the guys at WHF could also comment, but I really appreciate feedback from a real world owner in a similar situation.

WHF, any comments on the B&W 684 ?

Just to add, I feel the 680 series is brilliant at all levels if you have a powerful amplifier. You really do need 100watts+ to get the best out of these speakers, especially the larger (and funnily more efficient) models.

I would audition the Rega r5's if you are considering the 684's. If you listen to them back to back you will be gob smacked.
