I can't be the only one starting to think that HDCP is spoiling the party for everyone. It most certainly won't stop the pirates, so what's the chance of a lobby to drop it being brought about by the consumer industry. What Hi-Fi could lead the charge!

Nick, thanks for your valiant efforts to help us all. Great that Arcam are working so hard on this.

Nickclk:Green/red sounds like something is muting the video - if this were that AVR600, you would get a black screen with a "HDCP failure" notice at the bottom. When you have this screen, can you get the OSD or menu of the AVR600 up? If not, the display is *likely* to be muting. If so, can you get the Oppo menu up? If not, then the Oppo is *likely* to be muting. Turning the Oppo on/off doesn't really point to any item in the chain as doing this causes the HDMI/HDCP authentication process to restart.

Yes, you can see the Oppo screen through the red or green, rebooting either the Oppo or the Arcam cures it. This is only an occassional bug now, though more so than the V+ audio. At least I'm not getting complete AVR600 lock-ups anymore.

Nickclk:With regards to no audio with your V+ box, how do you have it connected and what do you have the "audio source" setting for that input set to? Having done a little research on this, I've found quite a few theads with people recommending HDMI connection for video & optical connection for audio (with some fiddling of the V+ HDMI override settings required). In this case, the AVR600 settings would be as per Sky boxes.

Audio input is set to HDMI on the AVR600 'SAT' menu. It is only happening occassionally, but it never happened with my Onkyo, which to me suggests the problem is with the AVR600.

Everything powers on using macros on my Logitech Harmony One. I've reset them so that the AVR600 powers on 1st, then the Pioneer plasma and then the V+ or Oppo.

Pete,

If you're seeing the Oppo logo then it's not any component muting (I can't be right all the time, can I? *smile*). Sadly rebooting either component doesn't point in either direction as rebooting either of them re-starts the HDMI process. I've not seen this with any other player, although we do have an Oppo player for testing in the lab which I'll get onto asap.

For your V+ audio, if you are able, try out an optical cable - as I said, a quick search of other user's comments on using this box with a multitude of other amps does suggest this is the way forward. Without hands-on investigation, it's almost impossible to detemine which component is at fault, but with HDMI this could be either.

Thanks Nick. Unfortunately I think it's the AVR600 as I never had any issues of this sort with my previous Onkyo TX-NR905 receiver using the HDMI for audio from my V+. Also, when I turned everything on yesterday to watch cable TV, the AVR600 completely locked, this is the first time this has happened since installing 1.9. Having said that, things have improved as the faults are happening less frequently now, but i must admit I'd hoped for a cure for all with 1.9.
