Hi,

I now own the AVI Neutron 2.1 set for almost a year. I bought it blind because I wanted a set for music and movies and no 5.1 + small in size. I have a 25 m2 room but it is a living room with a small kid so I wanted not too much cables and stands.

Because the set was as only 2000 euro (speakers, cables, stands, 100w amped subwoofer, 2x100 watt amps + dac ) and my budget was 5000 euro, i thought I should upgrade within a couple of months.

But I still own the neutron 2.1 and after a lots of demoes most speaker/amp/dac combos around 5000 euro did not bettered my set and I think a lot (70%) were actually worse.

Does anyone here own the AVI neutron 2.1 and had the same thoughts?

I own the neutron v speakers and love them! They were the best sounding speakers for me by quite a way when I was looking to spend £300-£500. I have been thinking about the sub since it came out but havent had the money (or got round the wife not wanting a sub problem) to justify it but I think I may get one eventually. What systems have you compared the 2.1 set up against out of curiosity?

a lot

Monitor audio rx1, Dali Lektor2 but also the more expensive Totem Mite, Dynaudio x12, B&W cm1, PMC db1i and Audio Physic Step.

And floorstanders like Monitor audio rx6, Audio Physic Sitara, PMC GB1i, Neat Motive 2 and B&W CM7 with big amps like Naim XS, Cambridge 840s2, Primare i21.

The only one I did prefer was the AVI DUO Floorstander with AVI lab amps pre=power.

Maybe I will upgrade to AVI AMD 9.1 + sub in the future you never know, but for now I will keep the neutron

cheers

That is alot! Sounds like you get on with the avi sound then! I have thought about the adm 9t but they don't have enough inputs for what I need and don't realy want another DAC to add on. don't think I would need the sub for the 9t if I got them though so they wouldn't be an expensive upgrade. As you can probably tell I have thought quite alot about theses options....

The sound best to describe the neutron 2.1 set is a very good headphone set up. Clear and tight bass. No boomy at all and no harsh treble. I can listen to it for hours.

Lots of people are negative about Ash and sometimes he can be very "shabby" (don't know the of that is a correct word, iam not native english) but his products are very good.

I don't see why you'd need to add a DAC as the ADM9ts have one built in. It's also quite easy to add extra inputs though if streaming you won't need so many.
