AV Stand

I'm about to purchase a Sony KDL-46w4000, Sony PS3 and Sky HD and I was
wondering what sort of AV furniture there is out there that would
accomodate the aforementioned equipment. However, I really want to have
an AV stand that is closed so I don't have to see the units. Also, I
want it to be as wide and low as possible. Low, because i want to get
that sleek look, and wide, so that i can cover up some hideous
electrical wall sockets. Ideally, it would be around 2 to 2.5 metres wide. The obvious choice is something by Spectral, but the price is just too much to justify. Oh, by the way, I'm wall mounting the tv. Any suggestions?

A word of warning... Don't try and use the PS3 from a closed unit, it runs extremely hot if you do... (I had mine behind a glass door, and after a while it would come up with a warning, and then shut down.) (It gets very loud too)...

(This is only a problem on a closed stand, it's running fine on a nice open one now)

Thanks fr0g and andrew. Seems like ikea is the way to go. I'll just have to keep the door open when using the PS3.

Don't be tied to the tv units though. If you can find the right size units in the kitchen section then these can be fixed together and legs fitted no probs.

Why not get one built if the Alter that is Ikea cannot help ? I made mine by doubling up the thickest mdf I could find to make it stiff enough. I put it at floor level and its 22 cm high so the tv it supports is at eye level (just below) when I'm on the sofa.

I leave the door open when using my PS3 and Onkyo 606 and there's been no prob so far.
