After looking at reviews on the internet for almost a month now I have decided to go and purchase this weekend.

I want an AV receiver and speakers to go with my Samsung A686 and Blu-Ray player. The AV has to also be good with music (music 60% / movies 40% importance to myself).

Originally my budget was £500 for both the AV and speakers but I am aware that I will need to spend more.

I have been looking at the Sony STR-DG820, Onkyo 606 and Denon 1909. I would prefer to buy the Sony at £250 but if the other 2 give me much better musical quality I am prepared to go with them?

With regards to a good speaker package for music and movies I do not have a clue?

I am willing to go upto 700-800 for the lot. I hope this is sufficient?

Ok i would go for Denon something like the 2808 for £400 or if you want the extra hdmi sockets the newer 1909, then partner them with Wharfedale Diamonds 9HCP in walnut for £350 at Superfi.

The advantage of going for something like the Denon 2808 is it has pre-outs for the front channels, meaning you can add a stereo integrated amp to the setup which will be much better for your music, whilst not compromising the home cinema side. Neither the Sony DG820, nor the Onkyo 606 nor the Denon 1909 offers this.
Just something to consider before you buy.
