Hi All I currently have a "Sony DAV-DZ 630" system in my house. The sound/quality is impressive. I want to keep these speakers and connect it to a AV-Receiver (have not yet bought). Is it possible to re-use the speakers, rather than letting them go to waste? I think it will go nicely with the Receiver I’ve got in mind... Sony STR-DH810 [EDITED BY MODS - aka font police]

Murlin,

Although not an ideal situation, you can use your present speakers.

Your subwoofer though is passive and the subwoofer pre-out on the Sony STR-DH 810 is meant for an active/powered sub.

With your new AV Receiver, your speakers will remain the 'weak link' - you simply will not derive the best performance from your system.

You might be impressed with your present system - I was too, a long time ago with my Pioneer DCS363 system which I thought was fantastic value for the money.

When you go down the separates route - even with a budget system, the performance of your AV system will astound you.

A dedicated speaker package should be next on the cards after you've purchased your AV Receiver.

Ronald
