nads:Good read and people wonder why i have a separate Stereo set up..

I don't wonder at all and for sure if I had room, I would have one too - maybe a full Cyrus set up with some MA Platinums or some Plinius gear. Will plan room for it in the next house ; )

Hey SC, no, I have not tried the Cyrus AV Processor, and won't try it out, because I need/want an HDMI1.3 Processor with all the HD decoding built-in. If Cyrus brings out an HD AV Processor, though...

Front loudspeakers: Krix Neuphonix

Centre channel loudspeaker: Krix Epicentrix

Surround loudspeakers: Krix Phoenix

Sub-woofer: Krix Seismix 5

How do you find the Krix gear? I haven't really given Aussie-made stuff much of a look.

Hi Damien, I was on Clearaudio's web-site last week, but confused the rubbish out of myself. I don't know which IEC plug to choose, so I just gave up. Hee hee. Let me know what we should be using here Down Under.

I know that Van Den Hul is quite well-known as a high-end cable brand, but I have a feeling that it is over-priced and possibly over-rated.

My The Chord Company Epic Super Twin (bi-wire) speaker cable has been sensational. I am still awaiting my Epic Twin (single-wire) cables for my front pair of loudspeakers which will be bi-amped.

I am a huge fan of Krix loudspeakers. I am actually visiting the Krix factory in December. Krix Loudspeakers is based in South Australia. Krix manufactures beautiful loudspeakers, which are exceptionally well-priced.

The lower models are good, but the Neuphonix pair, plus the Epicentrix centre channel, are simply astounding for the money. A pair of Neuphonix in real wood finish retails for about $3,200.00 and an Epicentrix (24kg worth) retails for about $1,900.00. If you have a chance, try and audition these loudspeakers, but make sure they are powered by good amplification, and I am sure you will be impressed.

Evening fellows

Dan - the Minstrals are active subs only. But if you look at Aslans new R1 speakers - 6 speakers each cabinet ALL ACTIVE with seperate amps (3200 watts per speaker if I remember right). Amazing stuff. Also on an Aussie website found how to turn the KDX mains into excellent Stereo speakers by cutting a resistor out (the one that helps diffuse the sound), worked awesome when I converted my dads KDX for stereo. I don't think the wife would appreciate 6 Minstrals around the lounge as surrounds.......maybe in the new house and Ill recess them into the walls in a special HT room.

Re Krix Damien they do alot of large Cinema work around the world (similar to Klipcsh) just google Krix.

Dan I just had another thought apart from being a Krix fan myself I got turned to the Stereo side when I heard the Minstrals.

Andrew at Aslan is also working on a music server for the R1 speakers which involves no conversion either way/direction digital to analoge.

His plan is a digital server that plugs into the R1's and off you go with no degerdation in sound quality.

Go the Wattgate 320i IEC (The IEC HC are a different fitting) at one end and then standard AU/NZ at the other - unless you want to shell out for the Furutech plugs which I'm told are great but also mucho $$$'s - haven't decided which to go for myself as yet.

I have Van Den Hul cables now and they seem pretty good - would be interested to test them out against Chord though. I have the 'Tea Track' which is the biwire version of the CS122 speaker cable and I can tell you, the hulliflex sheath was a nightmare to cut & terminate, strong as steel - then they have a carbon inner too - very well made. I plumped for the 'Thunderline' I/Cs to go with them from my CD player to the amp. I guess the only way to tell the difference is to blind listen side by side with something else. These both came highly recommended (here and in most Aussie stores) when I bought them. I got them for a reasonable price here - no need to import - unlike Chord etc. Cables aren't really given much stock in most Aussie stores I've noticed.

Thanks Damien. I might check out Clearaudio's web-site again some time in the ensuing weeks.

Question in general - at the moment, I have 7 The Chord Company Crimson analogue interconnects connecting my Integra DTR7.8 A/V Receiver to my NAD M25 7-channel power amplifier. Will there be an improvement if I replace them with, say, 7 The Chord Company Anthem analogue interconnects? They are so much more expensive, the Anthem's. I am thinking of replacing my The Chord Company Cobra 3 analogue interconnects (that connect my Cyrus CD 8 SE to my Integra DTR7.8) with The Chord Company Anthem analogue interconnects, so I was thinking having the same analogue interconnects throughout would be ideal, but it's likely to cost me a couple of thousand dollars - just for analogue interconnects!

Thanks Chewbacker. I have only had a brief look at the Aslan web-site, and it is interesting. It is good having Australian companies, capable of churning out good-quality products.

Krix is releasing a new 3-way loudspeaker, which replaces the Krix Symphonix. The new loudspeaker will be called Harmonix, and will be a 4-driver 3-way loudspeaker, utilising the Krix Phoenix's soft-dome tweeter, the Krix Neuphonix's mid-range driver, and I am assuming two new dedicated bass drivers. Pricing is expected to be approximately AUD$2,500.00 per pair.

I'm not sure on your q's regarding the change and I may have said this already elsewhere but you cant go wrong with hificables.co.uk - they delivered my Chord HDMI's out in under a week - and at considerable saving, so if you do decide to change, thats probably first stop.

Dantan - throw caution to the wind and go the whole hog, Indigo !! Actually, their new Signet is looking very sexy
emotion-1.gif
- think that might be going on my (growing) upgrade list..

Seriously though, I think using the Anthem on the CD will give a big difference...As for the 7.1 connects, I just don't know if the difference will be as justified...? I don't know. I guess in theory, yes it should, but as you say, it's going to stack up on the $'s....Perhaps Cobra on the AV side would be a good compromise ? I've got Cobra on my AV stuff, and it's defo a step up from the Crimson as a cable....I think I would put my money on the Cyrus, it will love it, and especially as it's putting a big smile on your face at the moment....

As for cable orders, I've used hificables too, for off the peg stuff, but if you want a 2nd choice, all my Chords were made to custom lengths, with Chord terminations, at great prices, by Synergy in the UK. Contact Simon. I'd thoroughly recommend them.

Thanks, SC. The Indigo would indeed be very nice, but I don't think that my system overall would justify the price of a cable such as The Chord Company Indigo - or Signet.

I shall most certainly entertain the thought of purchasing a pair of The Chord Company Anthem analogue interconnects for my Cyrus CD 8 SE CD Player. If I am super-impressed with it, then I may well consider it for my A/V Receiver-to-Power Amp.

My Cyrus has most certainly been putting a big smile on my face.

Can you believe I have been waiting for over 6 weeks for my bloomin' The Chord Company Epic Twin cables?!?!

Sorry to have confused you, Damien. I was just trying to find out what people would have thought the magnitude of improvement of a much better RCA cable from my A/V Receiver to my Power Amplifier.

The Anthem 2 is brilliant and you can get it for a great price at the moment on ebay (I think the credit crunch has hit hard - I sold one last week for £144!!!).
