Hi again, I lugged my Primares to 2 dealers to audition the PMC FB1i's and the Spendor A6 today. Both gave me the amazing sonic delivery so much so I don't know which to choose. What am I to do?

Are the Spendor and the PMCs wholly made in the UK? Is any part outsourced?

If I kept all the speakers I like, I'd be able to open my own hi-fi show!

You may find a couple of bits on the crossover might be outsourced, but other than that, they're UK built. I can't say for certain about the PMC's, but I know there are many components on the Spendor's crossover that they make themselves to their own spec, and for extra cost will internally wire your lovely new speakers with he cable of your choice, which is a nice touch.

For me, the A6's are a more evenly balanced speaker, but that's just a personal preference.

Told you...

Easy solution. If you can't separate either speaker, then buy the cheapest.

Don't bother with the most British, that way madness lies. And you'd rule out the use of Scandinavian drivers (which are great).

So just buy the PMCs. In walnut

Grilles on or off?

Which look the best compared to your furniture?

Which have the best resale value?

If there's so little between them, choose those that will best integrate into the living space that you will lose the least money on when it comes to trade-in.

In this case, my money would be on the PMCs.

Why not do it scientifically. Get an excel spreadsheet. Write down your evaluation criteria in column A, price, sound quality, appearance, etc, etc, whatever your criteria is. Then in column B give each criteria a weighting out of 10. Then in Col C rate each criteria. Col D is Col B x Col C. And total them up for each speaker. If by some mad coincidence, the scores are the same, flip a coin.

Or audition them again with more source material. Sometimes the difference between two products is highlighted by a particular album of music or piece of music.

More auditioning would mean more fighting with the mad traffic of KL since the 2 respective dealers are miles apart. Besides, tomorrow's my last day in KL. So the heck with it.....I'll go for the PMCs since it's available immediately. The Spendor I'd need to wait for 2 weeks. There are more votes for the PMC anyway
