I think Audiolab are testing the water with this top of the range amp and CD transport. There's probably going to be a full streaming variant, with the horrid DTS PlayFi module, eventually. Many people connect their TVs to an amp these days, regardless of streaming capability. If you don't need the extra power, or the display, then the 6000 Play is a better choice. It also lacks HDMI which is a shame. If people want a streaming amp and want to integrate a TV into the mix, then Toslink is the only alternative. I've had lipsync issues before and would prefer eARC. I think the display is a welcome feature, but is more practical in a streaming amp, such as my Audiolab Omnia. Having analogue and digital VU meters is a bit gimmicky. I don't see the point. Not really useful and only move when the volume is cranked up.

PlayFi has apparently improved, but no match for Sonos, Bluesound, or even Heos. Maybe DTS should not have entered this space, and why Cyrus is going Bluesound for streaming.

I like the idea of the 6000 and 6000 Play option and Roksan's Attessa amp, or streaming amp. I hope Audiolab do the same and release a 9000A 'Play'. Another expensive box to go with the amp is unnecessary and the streaming module would easily fit inside the standard sized box. Another two grand! It looks like the 9000 range will cost Cyrus money, to do it properly.

Agreed, as it is their top line it isn't going to be cheap but then again their are other options.

Balanced connections and cables are only required for long cable runs, to avoid picking up noise. They are overkill for any domestic situation, where the cables are probably a metre long. Most people would find an eARC HDMI more useful, in my opinion.
Yes I know the technicalities, but they look really sexy….

I have two pieces of kit that work like brand new.

1. My 13 year old B&W MM1 PC speaker system - if this packs up I don't know what I'll do. The sound is balanced to perfection.

2. My Cambridge Audio 751BD Bluray player. I bought the Dune Bluray disc and on my LG C1 the picture and sound dazzle.

Both equipment have given me endless and reliable pleasure.

Alas, I reluctantly sold my Arcam Solo Mini, but I wanted a built in DAC, and the CD player was getting iffy.

My Arcam d250 transport works like new and must be nearly 30 years old…. As do a set of Tannoy 611s.

Never mind any 7000A.
If today's news story from Hi-fi Choice was true, there'd be stampede for the 9000A - they priced it at £1,100.
What a mistake 🤨

(Last mistake I saw from them was knocking £1000 off the £1300 retail price of the NAD C700 in news of that model).
Phew, I paid nearer £2k for the 9000a, very happy with it though
