audio out from sony tv to amp newbie help please

Hi I have a sony KDL40EX503tv hooked upto a sony str-dh800 amp is there a way of streaming hd audio from the tv to the amp as I have just discovered the wonderful world of internet tv or am i better using phono optical etal tgo get sound out

What is it you mean by HD - do you mean from SKY HD?

Nah I think II am being daft it could be me but im trying to future proof myself by being able to stream hd audio from the net ie love film demand 5 bbc i player etc or better still just get audio from the telly to the amp

No such thing as a daft question here! Well it's not the answer you want but when I looked into getting the best sound most people say for SKY HD to take an optical cable from that to your telly - this will give you the best sound and is the only way to acheive 5.1 surround as HDMI on SKY will not do this...and to use HDMI for the visual side. I am not sure you will get the same sound quality from the net.
