ATC P1 LOL!

It's neat

There's a long history of now classic amplifiers that have headphone jacks on the side or back.....

Headphone jack on the rear! HUH? LMAO...

That's like a fridge with the ice dispenser on the back.

Hi jaxwired

The ATC P1 power amp has not got a headphone socket. The SIA2-150 MK2 integrated amplifier and CA2 pre amp have got them on their back panels.

Thanks

the principal seems totally daft to me as well

whats the most likely inaccessible place on a hifi stack to get at to plug headphones in and out of - ah yes that would be the back of the amplifier !

jaxwired:But...ummmm...it's on the back...
I have to agree. The policy of placing the headphone socket on the back of the unit is rather daft. Just because the manufacturer wants to keep the facia clean and clutter free?

Still, there is an easy solution - an inline headphone extension lead that can be left permanently connected to the socket on the rear and the other end left to dangle somewhere hidden but easy to get at. This will work as long as the headphone socket on the amp itself isn't switched and there is a separate switch to switch headphones/speakers 🙂

Yep, Cyrus is on the rear, and as my kit is in a rack, its a pain getting at it, so I don't bother, just annoy the neighbours instead late at night lol

With Cyrus it's a little different though, and please correct me if I'm wrong here. The headphones can be turned on or off at the amp/pre-amp. This means the headphones can be left plugged in, and switched in when you want to use them. This means you never need disconnect them.

Between my HD-DVD player, Bluray player, and DVD player, I have 2 mains leads. I usually have to change the mains lead betwen the DVD and Bluray player depending which I want to use, and while it was a pain at first, I can now do it in seconds. I'm sure it's not too hard to learn where the headphone socket is, and plug in quite quickly.

Hi jaxwired

The P1 power amplifer has not got a headphone socket on the back panel and nor have ATC added any to the ones currently leaving their facility. The CA2 pre amp and SIA2-150 MK2 however do have headphone sockets.

Btw, your system looks superb.

Rick, I get it, I'm mocking the wrong component. I should have said CA2 not P1. It doesn't change my opinion...

Yes, I agree, it looks smashing. One of the best looking amps out there IMO.
