are Sony winding us up ???

just what are Sony up too ?? i cannot believe there is not a single review on the net ANYWHERE for the hx703 range. are sony worried about the reviews they will receive on these tv's ?? the longer this goes on i would be concerned that sony have something to hide ?? More backlighting issues maybe ?? somebody somewhere must have one and can give a review !!!!!!!!!!!!! beginning to think samsung or panasonic is the future !!

I have one at home - just got it today. So far so good, picture and motion are excellent on standard TV and as you would expect bluray is very strong. It is not as good as the Panasonic Z1 that I am replacing but it is very close. It may be that I just need to get used to LCD again.

It looks very good ( appearance wise ) as well.

that sounds like a bit of a dissapointment then, you have just replaced a tv with one that isn't as good ?

maybe the edge lits are gonna be better ?? or like i said pana or samsung is the way to go

It is not really a dissapointment - I change my tv all the time as I dont get enough time to evaluate the screens at work. The Z1 is superb and I still may buy another one but right now I wanted to see how the Sony really performed.

With the choice of all that is available to buy right now I have opted for the Sony while I wait for a Panasonic VT20/ Philips 9705 to arrive. The edge lit sets from Sony are not doing it for me. PQ is not as stong as the CCFL units so they were out.

I too am waiting for a trusted review on the hx703 before I buy. It seems to have been out a few months now, and still no reviews!!!!!!

End of August / early Sept. It might be bit early to be assured of the price but at the minute it is looking like £1899. Please bear in mind that this may change prior to launch - it is a long way away.

TBH I saw this unit when it first came out (about 6 weeks ago) and I was disappointed. I think I'm just going to wait impatiently for the 42" Panasonic VT20 or something prices to fall on those pricey Phillips numbers...

The review is very much there online.....you're not looking hard enough! Just google "Sony KDL-40HX703 1080p HDTV Review".

another site have a review. The review is generally quite positive and gets a recommended rating. Hope it helps
