I was thinking of upgrading my cd player (a 18 year old pioneer pd-104 I inherited from my dad) and I saw on RS a pioneer PD10 SACD that looked pretty nice but I cant find any reviews or much opinion of them online. I've seen a few people say though that SACD players are not as good as regular cd players when playing standard CDs. Is this true? Does anyone have much experience of this player?
Are SACD players worse than CD players?

No experience to speak of with the Pioneer but I had no problems with the quality of standard CDs on either the Sony SCD-XA1200ES, or the Denon DCD1500AE I had.
Your friends were talking out of their collective hat! I currently own two such players by Marantz and Denon and both are excellent for CD.
thanks guys, I thought it would be absolutely fine. really tempted by it, its a handsome looking machine and a decent price for a sacd player (currently £170)
