Arcam rDAC - will it improve sound

Before I audition, I wonder if anyone had any advice on whether an Arcam rDAC would give a notable improvement in sound over the DAC in my Yamaha RX-V1800. Thats basically an 4 or 5 year old 500GBP AV amp. The source is HDMI or optical from a type 1 apple tv with apple lossless ripped cd's. I would consider a streamer if this would make a bigger differece i.e. CA SM6.

I posted something silimar in the HiFi forum but this is probably the most appropriate place I think.

I might also try an Arcam A18 at the same time and see if missing out the Yam amp altogether is another step up.

I would just try one change at once to be honest. Try the rDac first.
