I have recently purchased an Arcam rDac and while it running via my CD player it is superb but via my Apple TV (Gen 1) the sound quality is disappointing. I have done Apple lossless rips of my CD's and while doing A-B between the two players the sound quality is noticeably less from the Apple TV. I have run the rDac in for approx. 80 hours and was wondering if anyone could give any advise if there is anyway to improve the sound quality from the Apple TV or would it be better to buy a Mac Mini and run it via the usb on the rDac. any advise would be really appreciated.

Hi Roger,

Thanks for your reply and my Apple TV is connected via optical and the music is on the internal hard drive and have actually found the problem, I changed the optical lead from the cheap one I used previously to an Atlas optical cable and now they sound very similar with the CD player only slightly better. Once again thanks for your reply.

I know !!, I really couldn't believe a cable could make such a difference and am really enjoying the Apple TV and rDac combo now, thanks again for your reply.

Glad to hear you got it sorted, I adore my TV by far the best way to listen to my music collection.

With such a big difference in the audio My suspicion would be that the first cable was damaged or faulty in some way.
