Since my old Alpha 8 CDP has died I'm tempted by a new CD73T for £250. But could that money be better spent?

At that price i think its the best bargain around and i did used to own one. I liked it so much i bought a model higher up the range from Arcam.

Go for it at that price, it's a no brainer really, ive been running my cd73 for two years and still enjoying it.

does it have an "analog"-like character at all? (warm mids + body like vinyl) ?
(i am also considering the new nad range 545/565bee nads to use with my nad amp and epos speakers)

No, not really. You have to understand that vinyl and CD's are generated in a in their own unique way. In saying that the CD73T has an edge of warmth to it - it's less. . .how shall I put it. It's less analytical (or clinical) than some brands. So unless you spend mega bucks on a player, you'll be hard pushed for a Cd player to a sound that's close to a turntable.
Both anologue and digital are great as long as you accept they are very different.

Spending more gives you better options, like the Rega Apollo. I couldn't hear much of difference between it and the Cyrus CD6SE when hooked up to Epos M12.2 speakers and Cyrus 8vs2 amp (in store).

have yu considered secondhand? if you look on ebay you will find models higher from Arcam for the same price. You could also consider one of their DVD players - which also make excellent CDPs - i know because i have 3 of them (and i used to own the CD72T).

The CD73 has a slightly syrupy extra warmth in the upper mid band but this is nothing like an analogue source. CD can never sound as natural as vinyl, sadly. However, the CD73 is less clinical than most players and is certainly the best option at £250. If you go up to the £500 price point I think you'll find better now. I've had a CD73T and really enjoyed it but my current DCD1500AE is a much better player.
The NADs would be well worth a look. Their kit does tend to have more body to its sound and might give you just what you are looking for.
If you really want that analogue like character though you will just have to buy a turntable instead.

i do have a turntable ! but i want to replace my ageing technics 770 cd player (more than 10 years!, still sounds good though, with a class a d/a converter/mash) with a more "analog-sounding- player...
of course i'd like resolution but what i mostly want is more body and warmth (i know you cannot get vinyl sound from a digital source, but i'd like to get a touch ) and i start considering either nad 545bee or 565bee.. i also like marantz 5003/6002 but i think their sound is not what i'm looking for...
