Arcam Black Box 50 v rDAC

Had an Arcam Black Box 50 on my PC which got stolen during a break-in.

Am currently running a Cyp AU-D3 from the optical out on a USB soundcard as a temporary measure but want to go back to Arcam.

How does the rDAC compare with the Black Box 50? I know it's a lot newer of course, but would I be better to get an rDAC and hook it directly to the USB on the PC, or try to pick up another Black Box 50 off eBay and link it up with the Toslink (as it was before)?

Alternatively I have an Audio Alchemy DAC-in-the-box sat upstairs with a failed PSU, would it be worth picking up a new PSU for this?

If you want a better usb dac than that I would look at the John Kennys, much better than the Arcam.
