Still keep looking at this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pioneer-SC-LX90-Susano-10-2-Channel-Receiver-/332096825774?hash=item4d528369ae:g:uK8AAOSwt5hYfOBo

Have decided against it though and come up with this plan instead when my amp packs up:

Get the equivalent of the Pioneer sc-lx901 in the future and get some more B&W speakers like these ones:

https://www.ortonsaudiovisual.com/index.php/speakers/speakers-462/in-wall-speakers/b-w-cwm-cinema-7-in-wall-speaker-single.html

And do Dolby Atmos and DTS X and what ever soundtracks they may decide to do in the future. Good idea or bad? I will be using my PFM's too but adding these ones in the wall.
You don't seem to understand that Atmos and DTS X soundtracks require ceiling speakers, or at least upfiring speakers that bounce the sound off the ceiling (probably won't work as well). You could possibly get away with mounting some speakers very high on the wall and angling them down to the listening position for your overhead/effects, but it wouldn't be ideal.
Ah okay, cheers! Still watching the Susano?

You could have height speakers installed close to the ceiling to work as Atmos.

Something like this will do the job:

http://www.simplysoundandvision.co.uk/bookshelf_stand_mount/bowers__wilkins_m1_satellite_speaker_single/24518_p.html

What you've linked is an outdoor speaker. You're paying for weatherproofing which you don't need.

Yes, you know me too well! *biggrin*

There's another on there now as well, but it's much more expensive *scratch_one-s_head*

You could have it as a 5.1.2 if installing rear heights, and 5.1.4 if installing front heights too. Because your setup isn't symmetrical, 5.1.2 will work better for you. Point the speakers down to the listening position.

Yep, I thought about the M1's too. 5.1.2 is that 5 speakers, 1 sub and 2 on the ceiling?

£2262 - wow.

Shocked it went for that much! I've seen them sell for £1600 before Xmas! I had the option to buy one for £1200 but didn't have the money at the time!
Ah right, I have never watched one before. £1200 was a good price but they are still quite old now. I think you did the right thing going for the newer one with my sensible head on.

Actually 5, but I'm only using 4. Previous occupant of my apartment put them up. Front 3 and rear 2. Not using the front centre.

I think the 901 would be a good buy for you if you can afford it and plan to go Atmos!

Am I right in thinking that the avr850 has something like class g amplification but the 860 doesn't or something similar, it's a while since I read about the two? What difference would this make? Thanks.
And which amp for home cinema av is better the Pioneer sc-lx90 Susano amp, the Pioneer sc-lx901 amp or the Arcam av850 amp or the Arcam 860 amp? Only interested in 5.1 sound. Cheers!
Now between the Arcam avr850 versus the Pioneer sc-lx901?
I would only go for the 901 If you were considering going down the Atmos route with ceiling speakers- which I guess you are not. There is a Susano on eBay now- I'd have been interested if I hadn't just bought an 88, but it's dated in terms of features now.
Yep, I am watching the Susano but to be honest I don't trust the secondhand market. I am only interested in 5.1 though. If a shop had it I would probably buy it now.

second hand market is good! and bad.. bad as in i only got £180 for my dali ikon sub mk2 when i paid £400. although i did get 2 years out of it so not too bad i suppose. someone got a bargain!

Did you buy the Susano that just sold on eBay Gel?
Nope. I had been in contact with the seller though.

I don't know what to do with amps, so I am probably just going to keep mine until it dies.

Yep, if you can find a good seller it's good, not always easy though.
