Anyone know anything about these speakers?

Just been to view an auction, and they had some enormous speakers (Leak 3080) that caught my eye. They have a reserve of just £40, though they are expected to go for more than that.

What I'd like to know is, are they any good, and do they have any value?

I think they were well regarded speakers from the 70s.

They were good things about 40 years ago, I suppose they could still work but doubt it and I don't think they are a sought after vintage item, unlike the 2075.

Thanks for the info, but the auction has been and gone. I started this thread on Friday, but because of the lovely new site, it didn't appear until 12 hours after I had a moan about it on another thread.

Mmm, my recollection is they were gimmicky and not as nice as the 2000 series. Above, the huge 2075 were mentioned, which (IIRC) had 15" bass drivers and a swivelling, Dalek-like head with mid and tweeter (maybe supertweeter too, not sure withou much googlage). Very imposing to see and hear.

Very much Leak's death throes, I fear, these much inferior plastic baffled, gimmicky stepped design. Sorry to sound negative, but I'd pass for something more conventional.
