Most of the newer kit is doing it automatically. I recently bought and android phone and tablet. Both max out at 80% charge, regardless of how long they're plugged in for.I must admit I simply plug it in every night, or put it on the pad thingy, and let the Apple charger do its worst. Is there actually an intelligent charger than can do what you suggest?
Thanks, that’s great to know. I’ve read about how this is the best way, and I believe EVs can be programmed in that way too, but id never seen it on a phone. Most of the newer kit is doing it automatically. I understand a lack of interest Rev, nobody is less interested in phones than me.Not interested in it or the features, but I ordered a 17 at the weekend.
Certainly with phones, the advice has long been to maintain between 20-80% charge if you can.I thought that was cars? Is it all batteries?
Galaxy Z Fold for normal phones.I understand a lack of interest Rev, nobody is less interested in phones than me.
But isn't that about the most expensive phone you can buy?
How can you not be interested in the phone or its features?
I’ll admit that sounds a little wasteful. What I should have said is I know what to expect from a new iPhone: coming up to 20 years in their mobile ecosystem. I don’t know the benefits of the new camera, I have no idea what the new operating system does etc, but I do know it will be satisfyingly quick to load stuff & the battery will last a whole day.I understand a lack of interest Rev, nobody is less interested in phones than me.

"Himalaya alligator skin" they say? No alligators anywhere near the Himalayas, only much further east in the Yangtze river valley.Galaxy Z Fold for normal phones.
Or one of these:
The continual attempts by Apple etc to get people to buy another phone remind me of Tyler Durden's quote:
"We buy things we don't need with money we don't have to impress people we don't like".
A bit sweeping and reactionary! Do you dislike them because they're big? They grew through offering products & services that a great many people value. The world would be a better place without the US tech giants, they're all, without exception, utterly heinous.
I am not going back to Android. I went to Apple because I don't like Android and, as part of a strategy to avoid Google as much as possible. In addition to which, you get OS and security updates, for years longer with an Apple phone. What do you guys and ladies think to this phone as a cheaper long lasting alternative:
Looks like it would do me fine, I might sell my iPhone and buy it or keep it because it’s probably worth nothing now and make a note for next time I need one. How safe is the internet on it? Thanks

I disagree. I've owned several brands since 98 or 99, including Blackberry, but despite occasional niggles I find iPhones just work really well. I ditched Safari years ago, irritating, and use other browsers; the Apple shops I avoid; otherwise iPhones are great.I think Safari is quite safe.
It is money down the pan on Apple stuff.
Didn’t know that - thanks. Is there another alternative to Android?I am not going back to Android. The Apple Refurbished store is a good place to start.I think I am just going to keep an iPhone and iPad but buy the cheapest ones possible next time I buy one. Sorted. 🙂
Stay with Apple if i was you if you buy anther apple make sure its not a very old generation and will still update .refurbed ones are a good cheaper option. What do you guys and ladies think to this phone as a cheaper long lasting alternative:

I’m not going to pretend Apple is perfect but, they don’t shove ads at me all the time. As for updates, buying a Google phone is never going to be an option and, when I had a Samsung Galaxy S8, I got 2 year’s updates, then nothing. My iPhone 12 is eligible for the latest iOS and When OS updates run out, there are 2 years of security updates to follow so, I am happy to use it for 6 or 7 years. I use it for banking and contactless payments so, security is very important. That's a personal choice. I can't stand iOS.
Eminently sensible. However Apple are no better, they're just very, very good at marketing.
Bit of a generalisation.
Google Pixels get 7 years of updates.
Samsung flagships get 7 years n. Budget and mid range less.
Apple doesn't even state or guarantee how long devices will be supported, according to Macworld, but generally support them for 5 years of OS updates and potentially longer for security updates
