Any idea of a UK release date for the Metallica one?

Or soundtracks for this?

It looks a great tracklist

november 23rd. metallica mailing list sent me this link:

http://www.metallicanimes.com/product_3.html

I'll see what amazon want for it first...

It says 1080p and the best soundtracks available.

Tracklist is perfect, covered everyone I wanted it to.

Fade to black, nothing else matters, enter sandman.

I would like to get it from amazon too.

gel:I know what that Keane thing was the guy with the keyboard he had something he might have something he presses with his foot to make the subwoofer noises - not true bass.

Umm, pedals?

gel:Andrew you have quite a strange taste in music - I have never heard of them?

Them who?

Pedals that could be it - yes it makes a horrible sound out the sub.

Dave Matthews, Tim Reynolds, Rick Wakeman, Diana Krall, ZZ Top, That french blu ray?

My recent favourites:

Blu-Ray:

1) Archives Vol.1 - Neil Young. Simply stunning sound quality, and a veritable treasure trove of footage. For Neil-philes only though - £200 for the box.

2) Woodstock - Unsurprisingly not as astounding for audio as above, but nonetheless great document of a whole slew of great and not so sixties acts.

3) Lou Reed's Berlin - recent in-concert version of an early 70's album. Great guitar sound.

4) Jeff Beck at Ronnie Scott's - great sounding, bluesy jazz-ish jams. Sparkling pic too.

DVD:

1) Volumes 1&2 of the Old Grey Whistle Test - sublime (Judee Sill's The Kiss) to the ridiculous (Loggins & Messina's music/haircut atrocity) performances from early 70's to mid 80's.

2) Live At Abbey Road Vol.1 - another mixed bag but fantastic sounding. Iron Maiden through to Winston Marsalis via The Good, The Bad & the Queen.

3) Okonosos - My Morning Jacket. The best live band in the world ever ever. Captured beautifully in an old theatre on their home turf of Louisville, Kentucky. The vinyl of this is the best for sound, though lacks the visual thrill of the DVD somewhat.

gel:Des Ringdes????

Der Ring des Nibelungen - The Ring of the Nibelung - is Wagner's four-part opera cycle. Big drama, amazing sound and picture, great performances and a running time of 940mins (or almost 16 hours) on four Blu-ray discs.

Are there any blu-ray music only discs? ...

Yeah I popped this question in the hifi forum, I think the proliferation of blu-ray players over SACD/DVDA capable machines should make music on blu-ray a serious consideration for record companies.

Yes, there are a few, notably from Norwegian classical label 2L

gel:
Which ones of the rolling stones is better?

I have virtually heard of none of them including the above

Shine a light, directed by Scorsese...saying that a Bigger Bang is worth it for just for the version of Symphony For The Devil.

and Wagner is usually considered to be German, rather than French.

You don't say...

Sorry, having made clear it was Wagner, didn't think I needed to spell out the ethnicity.

Or may just still be a bit dizzy as am enjoying the Weimar Ring so much...

(Well, it's that or Most Haunted Live...)

Oh yeah and I tried the Alice Cooper blu ray and ended up selling that one too, alll alice cooper does is stand still and sing he barely moves what so ever.

How about Marilyn Manson Guns, God and Government Live in L.A. Blu ray?

How does it feel to be one of the Beautiful People?

Sadly, I think you did.

Thanks for all the posts I have just pre-ordered Killers live at the Albert Hall blu ray.

I feel this will give me the best possible audio and picture being at the Albert Hall.

Definetely going to keep an eye on the Metallica one as well.

My killer's blu ray is on it's way, will post how it is sounds and looks.

Just preordered - Pink funhouse and Kings of leon on BD out 23rd Nov

John Mayer and Queen are brilliant!

It's down to personal taste....

I have Led Zep at the Madison Sq. Gdn (circa '73) and was VERY disappointed with the PQ. I expected a proper HD pic from a clean transfer. What you get is more Super-8 quality. Soundwise it's fine I suppose, although can't really tell as I wouldn't call my system a home-cinema set-up.

Andrew,

Do you have any piano blu-ray (maybe like blues or jazz but any type) which you can recommend?

Thanks

James
