Does anybody have experience of ATC subs. C1? C4? In comparison with other subs?

Dave @ FrankHarvey or Rick @ Musicraft? Any users?

I am after a good sub (1-2K) but they are difficult to find to demo...

Not as yet, but once we've cleared out the remaining MK, we'll be looking at the C4 as a subsitute for the MX350. Watch this space!

The C4 is £2,900 though (not £1-2k). There's also the KEF Reference 208....

Finding ATC sub for a demo is almost impossible...

Is the KEF your recommendation as the top candidate for the budget? Woudl you say ATC C4 beats it?

Edit: Uhhh... The KEF also seems to be near 3K...

Without hearing the two side by side it's hard to say. We're slowly building our ATC account up (among many others), so want to take time getting into the big stuff!

It depends on a number of factors - IIRC from a previous thread you have ATC's so I suspect their sub would be a very good starting point.

At the price point you mention we run the Paradigm Seismic 110 and the Sunfire Tru-Sub EQ both of which are very quick, loud and punchy.

Hi AlmaataKZ

I appreciate you also considering me.

I'll say it again ime after dealing with ATC for years the only sub woofers that gel well effectively with their speakers (i don't say this likely) are ATC's own sub woofers . This is even more critical where ATC's main speakers such as the SCM50's etc. are using their Super Linear Magnet Technology bass drive units.

ATC's C2 or C4 sub woofers with their SLMT bass drive units, robust heavily class A biased amplification (as used in their main active speakers) and super clean reproduction will be a great match for your main speakers.

I hope this helps.

All the best

Hi AlmaataKZ

I hope WHF will not mind me mentioning this but if you are having difficulty in auditioning ATC subs than i have them and you are more than welcome to have a listen. I also have ATC's SCM100ASL Professional monitors (and other appropiate components) installed which use the ultra low distortion SLMT bass drive units. The SCM100ASL Pro monitors should make it much easier for you to judge how well the subs integrate with the main speakers.

All the best

well since suggestions on subs have now jumped to between £3k and £5k let brings this back down - with a budget of £1 - £2k there is quite a lot to choose from - are you after music or movies or both - how bigs your room - do you just want deeper bass or a lot more of it?

Can only talk about my own experience which is not quite as exotic as some suggestions but rel is a good place to start - I can recommend the B2 which is about £1500 and to me is fast, punchy and plays both deep and loud and supplies more bass than I could ever need - my rooms about 5m x 5m with a 3x3m cube on the longest side (dining room) and easily fills my space!
