Anybody been offered any good deals on the Onkyo 805/875?

Anybody been offered any good deals on the Onkyo 805/875 - thinking of buying and just thought this may save me some leg work?

Alas no. I hate paying full price for stuff, but the best deal I could get was from Onkyo-now.com. My 875 still cost £1k, but I got a 5 year guarantee............May come in handy later in life, who knows? Of course this was back in December, so there may be deals to be had when they bring out the 806/876.

I read on a forum somewhere that PC World on Totenham Court rd is doing Onkyo amps at cheap prices. I know this seems strange but I think they have a small AV section in store ???????????????. I have not checked this out myself but I'm intrested as I'm saving for a new amp. Let me know how you get on.

my 805 arrived on Friday was supposed to be black when box arrived clearly said silver onside - had to send back - they have no blacks in stock so been refunded - anyone seen any deals?

I got an 875 of Sunday from Richer Sounds in Leeds for £795. Just went in with a piece of paper with the price from av-sales.co.uk. They checked the sight, tried to phone to check for stock but the place was shut till Monday. They honoured it anyway. I got silver but they also had black in stock.

Finally managed to pick up another one - just got a great deal on the 875 for £690 - bargain as that was what i paid for my 805 that turned out to be silver - currently on order from onkyo but should be with me shortly

Moorgate accoustics - have limited number on order - for £10 more can get from Creative Audio but have to contact by phone or email - they have them in stock ready to ship - also have 805 for £599

Richer Sounds now have the 875 (black or silver) for £699 and further more the 905 is now sitting at the £899 price tag!

Given the price drop do they know something we don't like when the 876 and 906 are coming out?

I think one shop dropped the price and the others followed suit. found this on a forum:

The new models, due in the Autumn, all take the -6 suffix and feature improved specifications over the models they replace.

Upgrades include the Audyssey Dynamic EQ system already seen in the
less expensive models, THX Select 2 Plus certification (which includes
THX Loudness Plus), and more HDMI inputs, with the -806 having five ins
and one out. The TX-SR876 also gains an extra HDMI output, only
previously found on the TX-NR905.

The joker in the pack is the PR-SC886, a preamp/processor complete with
7.1-channel balanced outputs - its spec looks a bit like that of the
TX-SR875 without the power amps.

The styling of the products is so like the existing ones that the
presentation our man has seen simply uses pictures of the old models,
though there is a slight sharpening-up of the looks of the silver
versions, and of course the new remote handsets seen with the TX-SR606
