Andrew I have a Quad Lite sub and a Marantz 7005. But not sure what this means in the 7005 manual. Can you please explain it.

Set up the subwoofer

If using a subwoofer capable of the following

adjustments, set up the subwoofer as shown below.

nnWhen using a subwoofer with a direct mode

Set the direct mode to “On” and disable the volume adjustment

and crossover frequency setting.

nnWhen using a subwoofer without a direct mode

Make the following settings:

Volume : “12 o’clock position”

Crossover frequency : “Maximum/Highest Frequency”

Low pass filter : “Off”

Standby mode : “Off”

It simply means that the receiver provides the crossover filtering, so the crossover control on the L-ite subwoofer should be set to its 'off' positon. On subwoofers without the bypass function the Quad offers in its off position, the same thing is achieved by setting the crossover to its maximum setting.

Similarly you should set the volume control to around 50: this is the equivalent of setting the volume control on a conventional subwoofer to around the 12 o'clock position.
