Analogue audio connects - Bluray to older amp

I now understand that I need to connect by multichannel analogue rather than digital optical to get HD audio (with the Pioneer BD51 doing the decoding). Is this a link in the chain that I would notice a decent cable ie WHF current Best Buy - Atlas Equator(4 pairs) or can I get away with cheaper?

I nearly put this under the SKY+connection thread due to the (admittedly) tenuous connection link.

There are a lot of these questions, would it be worthwhile having a generic "How do I connect....?" thread? or is that just complicating things.

thanks - hopefully a quick & easy question

given you're dealing with an analogue signal at that stage of the process then yes you need to be mindful of the cables, depends on the amp I guess but I wouldn't be using the sort of free cables that come with most equipment, but you can only really judge based on how good the amp and speakers are really (ie don't spend more on the cables than you did on the amp and so forth...).

I personally use these. Mark Grant uses similar components. I wouldn't go overboard, the blue ixos budget cables are fine, I've used them in my secondary setups and in my car. Well made and cheap.

In a word, excellent.
